The Easternmost point of Australia is a lighthouse built in 1901 at Cape Byron, the promontory first seen and named by Captain James Cook which divides 40 kms of beach in half. South of the lighthouse you will find Tallow Beach, and to the north, Belongil and Tyagarah beaches, literally endless beautiful places full of sand and ocean. At the back of it, you will find Byron Bay, the city with 9000 people, and the highest concentration of events per person and libraries per square meter. This is Byron Bay!
The Film Festival, the Writers Festival even the Submarine Festival! It’s your choice! Or maybe the Bluesfest or Splendour in the Grass if you like rock better than blues. Truth is, all the bars and cafes have gigs and events, shows and performance artists every day. It’s like going back to the hippie age and everyone is always smiling and happy.
